Parks
Elk Grove currently has more than 50 parks that cover over 500 acres of land in excellent care and quality. Elk Grove Park contains great walking and jogging trails, baseball fields, picnicking areas, and ponds for children to enjoy feeding the ducks and geese. Many clubs, adult and children, take advantage of all facilities and can be joined very easily.
Athletic Clubs
The Emerald Lakes Golf course is now owned by the Cosumnes Community Services District (CSD). CSD hosts clinics there from the pro at Haggin Oaks, Matt Holm. Since it has been taken over, CSD has done a fantastic job maintaining it and improving it immensely from its days of private ownership. It's located on E. Stockton Blvd by Highway 99. The course's website can be found here.
Elk Grove offers a variety of gyms, one of the biggest being California Family Fitness located on Bond Rd, very close to Old Town. The gym is a massive collection of free weights, machines, full court basketball (indoor and outdoor), lighted tennis courts, and many other amenities as well as classes offered.
Laguna Creek Racquet Club is located west in Elk Grove and is the best club for family activities. On the property are 20 lighted tennis courts, indoor racquetball courts, indoor full-court basketball and video game and table game center. For the summer months, the club has 2 olympic sized swimming pools for swimming lessons of all ages, water aerobics, and just plain leisure. The club offers several classes including dance, aerobics, weight training, and spin.

Bicycle Friendly
Most of Elk Grove is bike friendly. If you work locally, riding a bike is definitely a possibility. It's easy to get around to the grocery stores nearby or even shopping as well. If you are interested in walking or riding trails off the road, the Laguna Creek Trail is a very nicely maintained paved trail that runs through Elk Grove and is great for morning or evening jogs, walks, or bike rides.
